Summer baby salad

I just spent a lovely weekend with my friends Alexis, Willy and Kris at A&W’s house on the James River. We ate this as part of a semi-alfresco lunch. I’m naming it “summer baby salad” in honor of their bambino due to arrive next month.

Sun ripened tomatoes, cubed
Cucumber, sliced thin
Watermelon, cubed
Goat cheese, crumbled
Olive oil
Balsamic vinegar
Fresh chopped basil
Sea salt
Fresh ground pepper

Combine ingredients and serve. As far as proportions go, I would say equal parts cucumber and tomato, half as much watermelon, one-eighth part goat cheese and a drizzle of everything else. Don’t over-think it. Just enjoy.
